Momma’s Tuna Noodle Casserole
I wasn’t sure if you should share this recipe until I posted a picture asking on Facebook group Southern Cooking! Comfort Foods and Desserts and received an overwhelming response of yes….. I guess I figured this was an old school recipe and most people already had a version of this but I guess they proved me wrong. This is what Momma used to make for me when I was young and still is super yummy. If you don’t have anything thawed for dinner and have tuna this is quick and easy to put together.
In a large pot start your salted water to make your egg noodle as directed.
Preheat oven to 350.
In a large skillet heat 1 Tbsp Olive oil and saute 1/2 onion finely diced, 1 tbsp minced garlic and 3 stalks for celery diced as well. Cook until the onion it translucent.
Add Cream of Mushroom soup, 1/4 cup Sour cream, 6 oz package of tuna and 6 oz of frozen peas. Heat thru and then taste and add salt and pepper if needed. I generally just add pepper since this tends to be a bit salty already.
Next drain and stir in your cooked noodle.
Add to a greased casserole and top with 1/2 cup grated cheese of your choose I used cheddar jack and then add breadcrumbs to cover the top well, I guess about 1/4 Cup.
Cook at 350 for about 30 minutes until browned. Enjoy!
