Tony’s Cabbage Casserole
This recipe is like stuffed cabbage but with a little kick:) I received this recipe from my sister Barbie years ago and it is a good recipe if you are wanting something different with ground beef.
Cook 1 cup rice to 2 cups water in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil, cover and turn heat to medium low. Cook for 20 minutes.
Steamed Cabbage in the Microwave
Start with a medium head of cabbage sliced. Add to a glass casserole with a lid add garlic salt, pepper to taste and 1 tbsp of bacon grease. Then add about 1/8 cup water. Microwave with the lid on for 4 minutes stir and cook an additional 2 to 4 minutes and it should be done. If not, cook additional minute at a time and check to make sure the cabbage is tender crisp.
In a large skillet cook 1 lb ground beef with 2 cloved garlic and Tony’s to taste. Be careful on this step because Tony’s can be really salty and if you add to much it could be a problem. I kind of add a little on this part and check the saltiness prior to baking. Drain beef then add back to pan with 1/2 stick of butter.
Mix in cabbage, 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 1/4 cup chopped green onion and 1 cup of cooked rice. Mix well, taste then add more tony’s if necessary, add to greased casserole dish. Top with 1/2 cup grated cheese and 1/4 cup italian bread crumbs. Bake at 350 for 20 to 30 minutes until nicely browned. Enjoy!
