Cooking Instructions
  1. Begin by rinsing and thoroughly drying the chicken pieces with paper towels.
  2. In the heated skillet, add the olive oil and sliced onions. Sauté for about 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic, turmeric, ground cumin, cinnamon, black pepper, and salt. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the chicken pieces to the skillet, skin-side down. Sear for approximately 5 minutes.
  5. Pour the fresh lemon juice into the skillet, scraping the bottom to lift flavorful bits.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth along with the dried apricots or prunes. Stir gently and bring to a gentle simmer.
  7. Reduce the heat to low and cover the skillet. Let the chicken simmer for 40 minutes.
  8. Stir in the toasted almond slivers and cook uncovered for an additional 5-10 minutes.
