Ingredients

For the Crust
  • 24 ounces Frozen Hash Browns Use 100% potato products without additives for a crunchy texture.
  • 4 tablespoons Butter Adds richness; substitute with margarine for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Enhances the crust's flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Essential for seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper Adds warmth; freshly cracked is recommended.
For the Filling
  • 8 ounces Bacon Main protein source; turkey bacon offers a lighter alternative.
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese Provides creamy texture and sharpness.
  • 6 large Eggs Acts as a binder and adds protein.
  • 1 cup Milk/Half-and-Half Creates a creamy filling; non-dairy alternatives work well too.
  • 1 cup Green Onions Adds freshness; optional, yet highly recommended.

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • Springform pan
  • Oven

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine thawed hash browns, melted butter, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until the hash browns are fully coated. Press this mixture evenly into the bottom and up the sides of a greased springform pan, ensuring it's compact. Place the crust in the freezer for 15 minutes to help it firm up.
  2. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Remove the crust from the freezer and bake it for 40 minutes, or until it turns a beautiful golden brown.
  3. While the crust is baking, grab a separate bowl and whisk together eggs and milk until frothy. Add crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, salt, and black pepper. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Once the crust is done baking, pour the prepared filling over the hot, pre-baked crust. Lower the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C) and bake for an additional 35-40 minutes.
  5. After baking, remove the quiche from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
