- Boil a large pot of salted water. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes until al dente. Reserve a cup of pasta water, then drain.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced garlic and sauté for 2-3 minutes until golden and fragrant.
- Sprinkle red chili flakes into the skillet and stir for another 30 seconds.
- Add drained spaghetti to the skillet, tossing in the garlic-infused oil. Gradually mix in reserved pasta water as needed.
- Remove from heat and stir in freshly chopped parsley and optional vegetables if desired.
- Serve in plates, drizzled with olive oil and topped with Parmesan cheese if desired.
