Method
 

Baking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine 2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and ½ teaspoon salt. Whisk until well blended.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat together ½ cup butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add 2 eggs, one at a time, mixing well, then mix in 1 cup mashed bananas, ½ cup sour cream, and 1 teaspoon vanilla until just combined.
  5. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture gently until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool the cake in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Beat together 8 ounces cream cheese and ¼ cup butter until smooth, then gradually add 2 cups powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla until fluffy.
  10. Frost the cooled cake with the cream cheese frosting and serve.
