Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Whisk together.
- In a small bowl, dissolve 2 ¼ teaspoons of active dry yeast in 1 ¼ cups of warm water (about 110°F) and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Pour the yeast mixture and 2 tablespoons of olive oil into the well of the dry ingredients. Stir until the dough starts to form.
- Lightly flour a surface and knead the dough for approximately 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Shape the dough into a ball, place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F and prepare your greased deep dish pan.
- Once risen, punch down the dough. Roll it into a 14-inch circle and transfer it to the prepared pan.
- Layer shredded mozzarella cheese at the base, followed by Italian sausage, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and marinara sauce.
- Sprinkle Parmesan cheese, oregano, and garlic powder. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes
Use fresh mozzarella and high-quality marinara sauce for the best flavor. Ensure dough doubles in size during rising.
