Preparation Steps
- In a food processor, combine garbanzo beans, water or vegetable broth, dried basil, salt, nutritional yeast, olive oil, garlic, crushed red peppers, oregano, and tomato paste.
- Blend the mixture on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
- Check the texture; if too thick, add a tablespoon of water or broth slowly and blend for another 20-30 seconds.
- Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
- Serve with crunchy veggies or pita chips, or drizzle over a salad.
