Preparation Steps
  1. In a food processor, combine garbanzo beans, water or vegetable broth, dried basil, salt, nutritional yeast, olive oil, garlic, crushed red peppers, oregano, and tomato paste.
  2. Blend the mixture on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  3. Check the texture; if too thick, add a tablespoon of water or broth slowly and blend for another 20-30 seconds.
  4. Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  5. Serve with crunchy veggies or pita chips, or drizzle over a salad.
