Ingredients

For the Crust
  • 4 tablespoon Butter Can substitute with margarine for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh garlic can be used for a stronger taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste.
  • ½ teaspoon Black Pepper Feel free to increase for more heat.
  • Frozen Hash Browns Ensure they are thawed and drained for optimal texture.
For the Filling
  • 8 oz Bacon Cooked and crumbled; turkey bacon can be used as a lighter alternative.
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese Gruyère or mozzarella can be substituted.
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk/Half-and-Half Non-dairy alternatives can be used.
  • ¼ cup Green Onions Chopped; optional garnish for flavor and color.

Equipment

  • Springform pan
  • mixing bowl
  • Oven

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, combine thawed hash browns, melted butter, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until evenly coated. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a greased springform pan. For optimal texture, place the pan in the freezer for 15 minutes while you preheat the oven.
  2. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Once heated, remove the crust from the freezer and bake in the oven for about 40 minutes. Keep an eye on it; you want the crust to turn a beautiful golden brown.
  3. While the crust is baking, whisk together the eggs and milk in a mixing bowl until well combined. Then, stir in the crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, and any additional seasonings.
  4. Once the crust is perfectly pre-baked, remove it from the oven and reduce the temperature to 375°F (190°C). Pour the prepared egg filling into the warm crust, smoothing it out gently. Return the quiche to the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the filling is set and slightly puffed.
  5. After baking, remove the quiche from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing.
