Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by lightly crushing 2-3 cinnamon sticks, 4-5 cardamom pods, and 3-4 cloves using a mortar and pestle or the bottom of a heavy pan.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the crushed spices with 3-4 slices of fresh ginger and a pinch of nutmeg. Pour in 4 cups of water and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  3. Once the spice mix is well simmered, turn off the heat and add 2 black tea bags to the pot. Cover the saucepan and let the tea steep for 5 minutes.
  4. After steeping, remove the tea bags and reduce the heat to low. Stir in 2 cups of your preferred milk—dairy or plant-based—and sweeten to taste with honey or maple syrup.
  5. Using a fine mesh strainer, pour the Christmas Chai Latte into mugs, ensuring that you remove the spice solids.
  6. For an extra touch of holiday cheer, garnish your Christmas Chai Latte with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon or nutmeg on top.
