Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a bowl, combine 1 cup of warm water with 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast. Stir gently and set aside for 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 3 cups of all-purpose flour and 2 teaspoons of salt. Create a well in the center, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and pour in the activated yeast mixture.
- Lightly flour a clean surface and knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it's smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, covering it with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm area for 1 to 2 hours.
- Gently punch down the risen dough and transfer it to a greased 9x13-inch baking pan. Stretch and press the dough to fit the pan, then use your fingers to create dimples all over the surface.
- Drizzle olive oil over the dimpled dough, then sprinkle minced garlic, grated parmesan cheese, and any optional Italian herbs.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C). Once heated, bake your Garlic Parmesan Focaccia for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove the focaccia from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Slice into squares and serve warm.
