Step-by-Step Instructions
- Begin by greasing an 8-inch square pan with 2 teaspoons of unsalted butter, ensuring the bottom and sides are well-coated.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 3¾ cups of sifted powdered sugar and ½ cup of nonfat dry milk powder. Stir thoroughly.
- In a medium saucepan, melt ½ cup of unsalted butter, ½ cup of granulated sugar, and ½ cup of light corn syrup over medium heat.
- Carefully pour the warm syrup mixture into the bowl with your dry ingredients. Stir everything together until smooth.
- Allow the mixture to cool for about 10 minutes. Divide it into four equal portions and shape each into a log.
- While the logs are chilling, melt the package of caramels with 1 tablespoon of milk in a small saucepan over low heat.
- Once the logs are firm and the caramel is melted, dip each log into the caramel, ensuring they are completely coated.
- Immediately after dipping in caramel, roll each log in 2 cups of chopped pecans, ensuring an even coating.
- Wrap each log carefully in waxed paper, sealing them tightly. Store the logs in an airtight container.

Notes
Ensure you use unsalted butter for better flavor control. Always sift powdered sugar and dry milk powder before mixing to prevent lumps. Melt caramels gently over low heat for best results.
