Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a 9x13-inch baking dish by greasing it with oil or cooking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, whole milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, kosher salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Press the meatloaf mixture evenly into the greased baking dish and spread ketchup over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
- While baking, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add sliced potatoes and cook until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and mash with sour cream, milk, unsalted butter, salt, and pepper.
- After the initial meatloaf baking, spread the mashed potatoes over the top of the meatloaf.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and chopped green onions on top of the mashed potatoes.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 20 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving, then cut into squares and enjoy.
