- Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a rolling boil. Add salt and spaghetti, cooking until al dente (8-10 minutes). Reserve pasta water, then drain.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté garlic until fragrant, then add canned tomatoes, smoked paprika, and dried herbs. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add sugar, salt, and pepper to the sauce. Simmer for 5 more minutes until thickened.
- Combine cooked spaghetti with the sauce, tossing gently for 2-3 minutes until well-coated. Add reserved pasta water if necessary.
- Serve topped with Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
